till Saturday turns into Sunday

So while my little melpod is busy eating up all my cds, I thought I'd blog some more about my lovely weekend....

Saturday started with brunch at Cafe Sofie, Erko (short for Erskinville).
Had the big breakfast of eggs (fried), bacon, sausage, mushrooms, hash browns, grilled roma tomato, and toasted turkish bread. Don't forget the creamy flat white (coffee). Hangie got served ginger tea in a soup bowl. If Andrew's mum tried that he'd sent it straight back to the kitchen. Luckily Hangie is more forgiving and willing to embrace creative serving techniques.
The rest of the day was spent Gaming On (Mah Jong) at my place. Mum kept looking over my shoulder while I was distraced by Andrew's Pulp DVD playing behind Phil. We finished the 16 rounds in time for dinner and fitting in a kebab and ipod purchase break. The guys left for some renowned vietnamese pork rolls "hong ha" and I headed to Hurstville for the Moon Festival family dinner.

Our random night started with a guy smashing a cityrail bus sign with his skateboard. He really should have more patience with the nightride. We went to World Bar in Kings Cross for drinks. Their speciality is teapot cocktails, ie your tropicana, fruit tingle or long island iced tea will be served in a yum cha teapot with coloured plastic shot glasses. Smoking only outside now. There was strange music in the dancefloor room all night despite Maz giving it more than 5 chances. Upstairs was a pool table and retro rock blaring from the jukebox- What's the story, morning glory? Smells like teen spirit. Especially when it's that guy over there's 21st.
Guys in white suits on stilts were walking around as the left the bar. We headed to Harry's Cafe de wheels, bypassing some crazy wogs doing a 3 point turn in the middle of Darlinghurst road and later reversing to the other side of road on Victoria st. Harry's has pies with mash, peas and gravy, or hot dogs with chilli con carne, peas, onions, cheese and chilli sauce. I had both :)
OK, I didn't finish the bread on the hot dog and Maz helped me with the pie.
Phuonger was a little disappointed since we had raved on about it so much. "Not as good as Maddo (Matraville) pies." (the other 24hr pie shop)

Today (Sunday) was beach day.
The plan was Bondi for some KFC, a swim and some tanning. No one of the above was achieved. The weather was clear and sunny with gale force winds. KFC had closed down. Had Hungry Jacks instead (Burger King by any other name). Took a few photos then headed to the Beach Road Hotel for drinks. Taiwan have got to learn to chill their beer glasses. We sat in the warm sun, protected in the walled back garden, sipping our ice cold Coopers and Tooheys New, with frothy cappucinos and a not so good semillion.
