Is it another superhero movie?

Superman was released this week which much expectation. People flocked to the cinemas late after work and intentions of large group outings to the IMAX. Personally, I saw it in Ximen on a humid summer evening after some humourous bowling incidents (we couldn't work the computer so we had 2 extra players on screen in the first game; leading to a shortened 2nd game; alternating lanes, league style, causing Big Al's strikes to be credited to Spanky; and best of all- me dropping the ball before i got to the lane- there was someone standing in the way).

Anyway back to the man of steel.
The effects are quite astounding but the plot too thin to remain interesting for over 2 hrs.
There is no doubt Brandon Routh has all the right features. However, his plastic make-up and lack of dialogue conjures the possibility of a past modelling career. Kate Bosworth does an annoyed and bitter Lois, unworthy of devotion from our hero. Kevin Spacey is delightfully malicious as Lex but the real gem is Parker Posey as a not quite evil enough sidekick. I actually got homesick looking at all the Sydney backgrounds- the paved boardwalk of Martin Place and the choppy green water of the harbour.
As a movie fan (as opposed to those know-it-all comic fans), this movie is still a must-see but I'll prob pass on the IMAX. 3.5 stars.

Speaking of rorts, 7 11 are out to bankrupt me before I've even finished giving away all those spare Hello Kitty pins. (No Jared- no more for you!)This time it's Doraemon magnets with countries. Haven't got Australia yet but I already have 3 Russia and 2 France. Once again, when all I needed was just a morning coffee, I end up buying 2 or 3 semi-necessary things to bring the total up to $77. Did i mention there's also a metal folder to display them in? Better start ordering boxes to ship all this crap home one day.
