The First Melengro Report In A While!

  • I've just finished reading Mikhail Bulgakov's wonderful, poignant, hilarious book The Master and Margarita. Now I want there to be an English-language movie version with readily available clips so someone can make a fanvid to 'Teenagers' by My Chemical Romance. Although Bezdomny, the book's youngest character, is twenty-three, it would just be so loltastic and cracky and thus TOTALLY IN-KEEPING WITH THE BOOK that I can't resist wanting it. Also, the ending made me cry.
  • Now I am going to read Nights at the Circus, which
violetisblue recommended. I'm a bit less enthusiastic about this one, mainly because I find second-hand books with highlighter marks and cursive scrawl in them to be rather difficult reading. I think I'll like it once I get past that, though.
  • I saw the Transformers movie to-day. It was Epic--but not Fail or Win. It was Epic Lol. On one hand, it had quite a few plot holes and was very very long; on the other, it had GIANT ROBOTS BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF ONE ANOTHER. And I like long movies anyway.
  • At some point in the near future, I am going to start writing a supernatural-police-thriller called The Anthrophage, in which anthropomorphic personifications of Fun, Hypocrisy, Superstition, Metafiction, and Moderation watch a police detective, an environmental activist and pundit, and a mountebank astrologer track a cannibalistic serial killer. I can post my draft work if anybody's interested.
  • My hemicrania continua is...well...continuing. Whether this has to do with how much I identified with Pontius Pilate in M&M is neither here nor there.
  • I've decided that the Master (DW, not M&M!) actually went insane due to a combination of family problems, social stressors, and all that drumming that he did in Prydon Academy band. The Untempered Schism ritual was actually fairly straightforward and low-risk; the Doctor just made that story up so his race would sound more impressive.
  • My stomach hurts; a boiling, swirling pain that begins just below my diaphragm and continues down to my groin. It's not pleasant. Eating something helps, but only a little.
  • I think that Avatar should end with Aang, Katara, Toph, Sokka, Zuko, Mai, and Iroh visiting Azula in prison and singing 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life' at her. Just sayin'.

avatar, writing things, books is good, actual real life, doctor who, shameless self-promotion, music, food
