This makes me feel a hell of a lot better about being a Takano fanboy, by way of comparison.

So I went to see Sex and the City 2 (a friend dragged me to see it because she knew that my reaction would be priceless) and walked out of the theatre a more ardent socialist and fair-tradist than I have ever been before. Anything to redistribute wealth away from these fucking yutzes.

The way I see it, there are exactly seven things that went wrong ( Read more... )

people suck sometimes, why?, raaage!, a movie is fine too, dear god that's bad, reviews

I hear that the TV series wasn't so bad, but then the movies came along and ruined it? My inner capitalist can totally get behind a show that is all about people wearing expensive stuff and spending money, but Sex and the City 2 doesn't sound like crazy hedonist capitalist fun; it just sounds stupid.

The TV series was silly offensive-to-many-people-including-any-and-all-self-described-socialists-which-includes-me-but-really-quite-harmless. At least from the ten or so episodes that I saw. I have no desire to see the first movie ( ... )

I have read so many reviews of this movie already because they have all been hilariously snarky. It is good that I did this, because I might otherwise have convinced myself that the movie might have been So Bad It's Good and therefore required watching. Now that I know it's merely So Bad It's Horrible, I can steer clear of it.

I need to check to see if it's been added to the SBiH page yet. If not, clearly this needs to be remedied. Failed to appeal to even its target audience? Check! My ultra-girly, WASP cousin Alexandra couldn't stand it and after it was over turned to her father, my cousin-by-marriage Ted, and said 'Daddy? I...I think I'm an anti-porn Islamic feminist now.' And Alexandra was a self-described 'feminine feminist ~*~<3' (yes, the Say It With Hearts aspect is necessary considering what my cousin is like) and rather pissed-off at the existence of porn before this movie.

tl;dr THIS MOVIE MADE MY COUSIN WANT TO CONVERT TO YOUR RELIGION OUT OF SPITE.

Who is its target audience, anyway? Girls who like pretty clothes? Girls who like sex? Girls who like pretty clothes and sex? Because I think the producers may have overlooked the fact that this last demographic often overlaps with "girls who like pretty clothes and sex but are not completely devoid of brains, for heaven's sakes" demographic.

Also, GOOD GOD, THE COMMENT EDITING. I HAVE CREATED A MONSTER.

Girls who like pretty clothes and sex. Alexandra LOVES pretty clothes and thinks that she'll probably like sex once she gets around to actually caring about it enough to put effort into having it. And she's rich and honestly a little flighty sometimes and more than a little spoiled and her bedroom is disgustingly pink even to-day (she's fifteen).

Like most of my family, she is also a genius in an arts/humanities field.

In her case, DESIGN.
And she HATES the Sex and the City fashions. Another thing that she once did out of spite towards this franchise was creating a fitted gown based on the one that Beatrice wears in Umineko and photoshopping it on to Kim Cattrall.

I AM LOVING THE COMMENT EDITING. IT IS AN IMPROVEMENT ON DELETING AND REPOSTING. I AM ALSO LOVING MOAR ICONS. SANKYUU~

I CAN TELL YOU ARE LOVING THE COMMENT EDITING. YOU EDITED YOUR LAST COMMENT ABOUT A BAZILLION TIMES. :P

I like that Beatrice person's gown. It is all princessy and pretty and fun-looking. Also I like the colour.

I KNOW. i'm sorry?

I like that Beatrice person! Alexandra and I didn't used to be close at all but now we talk a lot because we independently became fans of many of the same things! She doesn't really 'get' Doctor Who but she has good taste in music and in general Stuff From Japan. It's worth sitting through the occasional bout of 'OMG THIS SHADE OF PINK WOULD TOTALLY GO WELL WITH THE OTHER SHADE OF PINK ON MY PLUSH MARTIAN FROM KAMICHU' or 'LIKE, WTF, NATHAN, DON'T YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HELIOTROPE AND VINO-RED?' for the surreal kickasstacularness of a song called 'Scorpion Entrails' playing on this person's cell phone.

Beatrice is less 'princessy and pretty and fun' and more 'empressy and dangerously beautiful and batshit insane'. Hence why I love her so.

Beatrice sounds cool! And so does your cousin.

DOUBLE POSTING FAIL, MY BAD.

HEY, I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW THAT elle_white AT LEAST, PROBABLY OTHER PEOPLE IS WELL, IS A COMMENT-EDITING DYNAMO. I'M IN GOOD COMPANY.

Beatrice is...well...so yeah.

Fandom's attitude towards her can be summed up with one of the YouTube comments: 'OH GOD, TROLL ME AGAIN BEATRICE, DON'T STOP'.
