Last night was awesome.
After a kinda of shitty day at work I came home and started getting ready for my audition for "Noises Off". Since Ricky has rehearsal on this side of town, he came over early and we went and got some chipotle....yum! I love my boyfriend, I know I've said it a thousand times but he really believes in me and makes me feel special. *kisses* for my baby!
So when I got to the audition place, a bunch of us were interviewed for the St. Pete times because they were doing an article on community theatre, so I might be in that paper! I think my monologue went really well. I did the crazy tuna fish monologue, which Shaun (the director) already told me a while ago he wanted to do this show with me. After everyone auditioning did their monologues they had us all in this room were he called different people to do cold readings for different parts. He had me read for Brook, Poppy and Belinda. They were really fun. I read the Brook scene like 5 times and she only had like three words in the whole scene and they laughed everytime. After he'd had everyone read what he wanted he let everyone go except for me, another guy and three women to read for Dotty. I read that scene EXACTLY the way I wanted and it felt good. The guy I was reading with was awesome too cause he made it easy to play off of. The director and assistant director were cracking up. I asked Shaun when he might be calling us back and he was like "Well, if we have callbacks they'll be tomorrow so I'll call you then, if not, well I'll call you tomorrow" So I left in a pretty good mood, very happy with my audition.
Before I even got out of my car after driving home I received a phone call from Shaun (This is like 30min after the audition) and he's like "Would you accept the role of Brook?" And I was so excited and I was like "Of coarse!" he told me that he had a couple other people read for her the day before and I blew them all out of the water and he loved my monologue so much he couldn't wait to do that show with me! I felt great! I'm so excited. Not only is the the first real comedy (Well, besides forum, but this is a different kind of part) its my first straight play too! I'm so excited. I decided this is probably what I need to be working on right now anyway. I really want to strengthen my acting abilities and this show is going to be nothing but fun. I can't wait to meet the cast and start working! It's gunna be great!!!
