Dear the Blissful Childfree,

Yes, I know, you hate children. You'd never do anything so stupid as have your own. And I respect that. Sometimes I wonder why I have one, and why I'm having another. But let me tell you something. I don't bring my 3-year-old to your fancy restaurants, your house, your posh gym ( Read more... )

not all of the "blissfully childfree" hate children.. and some parents don't like fussy kids either. i remember being with my father and he would be *very* put out when we went places only to have to listen to fussy children or children who wouldn't listen. he could shoot daggers with his eyes if a child *ran into* him when he was standing in line at a store or whatever (and the same was true for me at home-- i was not to get in the way, and it was a way of learning respect and courtesy, and a way to keep from being stepped on). my father expected me to behave in public (at all times, really) even at a young age, and if i didn't, then we didn't go out. going out with adults was a priviledge, and not to be abused ( ... )

agreed, everyone has bad days... and sometimes those bad days are simultaneous, so if you happen to be in the supermarket when your son's having a bad day and i happen to be in the same supermarket when i'm having a bad day and on the edge of not walking upright or throwing up from a migraine (or other pain), it makes for an even worse day for both of us. but that's just the law of averages or whatever. that shit happens ( ... )

I definitely agree with the population thing. Child #1 was an accident that turned into a happy accident. But we thought long and hard before conceiving #2, muchly for those very reasons ( ... )

I successfully took three kids through a Meijers today. They were awesome... one time I had to drag one while chasing the other and made the oldest cary everything.

Having two is usually less stressful than only one. They start to entertain, teach and take care of each other.
