Accident in Melbourne
Hey fellow maniacs,
So I got into an accident Wednesday night. Got doored by a motorist along Flemington Road in North Melbourne. It was epic. Got flung a couple metres away from my bike, and was lucky enough to escape with relatively minor injuries. Lucky as hell that i wasn't onto the path of traffic as the lights hadn't yet changed and released a horde of cars. My bike's all busted though. My iPad, which was in my backpack had its screen shattered too.
I was told by the cop that the guy who doored me got insurance with TAC so my medical expenses and bike repair will get covered. So I texted the guy and he replied that I needed to get him two diagnostic quotes from a registered bike shop - means I've gotta lug the broken bike to two places. It's wrecked, a repair would be pointless. Checked with the stores and they said the diagnostic fee would be 90 bucks.
I'm starting to wonder if it's all worth this trouble, and to what extent this is covered by insurance, too. I know it's a long shot, but wondering if anybody has had similar experience and can give me some advice to what steps I can take going forward from here.
