Brumby = goooooorne but will Baillieu do any better or do we not really care as long as Brumby is not our Premier for another three years?

ETA 11.50PM: So I posted this soon after Antony Green made his first "A Liberal Government is likely" prediction on the ABC. What do we think now? Hung parliament or will Baillieu win government?

Probably not, but animal welfare is screwed now. Greens/Labor were the only ones that had a backbone and were going to start cracking down on BYB's and mills.

Also, the libs are going to make Easter Sunday a trading day so shops will be able to open. Labor was going to keep Easter Sunday as a non-trading day and make ANZAC day a full day non-trading day, instead of the 'you can open after 1pm' thing...

I dunno, I really don't think there is going to be a great deal of difference between the two, but I would like them to start paying attention to areas outside of the CBD...we do exist and that's why Labor have lost, for to many years they have ignored regional areas and now they are getting screwed.

Yeah, it was Kennett who fucked over the regional areas, but it's not like Labor ever bothered to fix any of it.

Then we'll open Christmas Day as well. I think even the non-religious folk (I'm atheist btw!) would get pissed about not having a day off on Christmas Day.

It's either all, or none for me.

I'm an atheist who works in retail and I'd be much happier working Christmas day and getting double or triple time for it, thanks.

I work in retail too...supermarket. Deli section. Actually, I'm a fishmonger so I'm dreading this Christmas. I'd like a day off to recover personally :P

I work in pharmacy, so we get the fun of Christmas shopping, tourists who've left their medications behind, and end of year medication hoarding all at once (though the last is not as bad since the government changed the Safety Net rules). Christmas is not the end of it, so I'll take my day off in January!

My sympathies...working in a pharmacy must not be nice at Christmas.

...though at least you wouldn't get prawns thrown at you...hopefully...(had that happen last year...we were 'too slow'...well, there's 8 people working and 30 fucking customers! WAIT!)

There are plenty of us out there working Christmas. Just because shops are closed, doesn't mean everything switches off :) Should be a choice to work Christmas.

Yes, my mum was a nurse for many years. She worked Christmas (either morning or evening shift) every year, but she certainly got paid for it, and we just organised Christmas around her.

Well, this year a lot of workers might be duped out of PH pay because Christmas is on a Saturday and the government/Fair Work Australia haven't declared it a public holiday. The day in lieu will get the PH rates though. Go figure.

Yes, this is the bit that makes me go 'what?'...I'm contracted to work Mon-Fri so I'm getting paid holiday rates for Monday even though Christmas is on Saturday. Bloody odd.

Yes, it sucks - and other states have declared it a holiday. Hope whoever wins government declares it a holiday in celebration!

I've not had Christmas Day off for years. Cunts insist on getting fresh bread on that day instead of buying it the day before >:(
