Melbourne Historical - an app for Melbourne lovers!

Feb 24, 2010 10:49

Hi guys - I've just been alerted to the community here, and as a CBD-living local I'm looking forward to taking part in the chatter.

The reason I was told about your existance is that I was plugging a new iPhone app on my own LJ, which is all about Melbourne. It was researched and written by my husband, who is a freelance writer and who, like me, has a love affair going with this town. The frriend who suggested it thought the Melbourne Maniacs would like the app in question!

The app is called Melbourne Historical! It's a guide to historical places in Melbourne, and has over 100 entries, from the obvious big cathedrals to weird little odd spots that even locals may not know about!

Whether you're a local, visiting Melbourne or just interested in history, it's a cool little app. TIm's worked very hard to make the text interesting and witty, and it's jam packed with photos too. The app interacts with Google Maps so you can find everything, see what's nearest you, plan your route and all that good stuff.

If you do download it and like it, please leave a review, which will help it come in higher on the search results. Especially since it's a profit-share project, so Tim's income depends on the number of sales. Hell, it costs around the same as a cup of excellent Melbourne coffee, so there's no harm in downloading it just to play the slideshow! :) (I took some of the pics in there too, on that day Tim and I spent 7 hours walking around Melbourne!)

You can get more details on the app on TIm's site or of course, if you have an iPhone, you can just search for it in Apps on your phone!

Thanks for the time and space here, and I'm looking forward to engaging more with everyone here.
