Do you know if there are any online petitions doing the rounds yet? They just travel a lot faster to a great deal many more people.

I agree, but apparently Melbourne City Council has a very poor response to online petitions and requires actual signatures. If you write to them I'm sure it will register though. I know it's a bother; online was my first response, too - but apparently not for these guys.:(

If you can be arsed ringing or emailing - or even better, writing an actual letter it would help immensely. Thank you.:)

Have emailed privately from our family to the Lord Mayor and Dep Lord Mayor.

Nice to know that bureaucratic stupidity continues to know no bounds. :(

i sent emails to everyone on the list, I received a brief response back from Cathy Oke saying that councillors had asked for more information on the matter and would then give me a more detailed response.

Fingers crossed that they wake up to themselves asap.

You rock *so* much. I spoke to the lady in charge of Lort Smith's shelter this morning. She says there's not much anyone can do to change this, but that public support will certainly help in making the council more helpful when it comes to negotiating ways in which they can still act in a support capacity, if not officially as a "pound". Basically each council makes a contract with one shelter to do all the pound work for that council, and the Lost Dogs' Home is Melbourne's "official" one. LS are talking to the council to find out what they *can* do, around that ruling. Apparently the council are being positive and helpful, and a good public response will absolutely guide them in that direction.

Frankly I think that while most suburban areas are probably well-served with one shelter, Melbourne should be allotted two, just because of the increased population.:/

Thank you so much for your support. People like you make the world a better place.:)
