A bored Mel is a very bad thing. (Never mind that Mel actually has tons of work she should be doing, as well as Matrix fic to finish before the challenge deadline tomorrow. Hmm.)

So: comment with a fandom and a line from a song, and I shall give you drabble. :-)

(Also, why is there no mood icon for 'procrastinating'?)

It ain't fair you died too young/Like a story that had just begun/Death tore the pages all away

He stares at her empty desk and it hits him, suddenly, sharply, that she's never again going to look up and tease him, never again going to laugh or smile. He glances at Gibbs' desk and wonders how he's feeling. Tony got over his own crush on Kate a long time ago; she was a friend, a sister to him. But Gibbs - there was always something more between them. Tony had seen it even on Air Force One.

Gibbs and Kate were supposed to realize they were in love, and get married and have children and live happily ever after. They deserved that; Kate deserved that.

There's no time for should-have-been's. They have a killer to catch.

. . .

You'll find a love you can share/One you can call all your own/Just close your eyes, she'll be there/You'll never be alone

Jarod's pretty sure he's in love with Miss Parker. Not the woman she is now, but the little girl he met all those years ago. He remembers everything about that first tender kiss, the way his pulse had sped up, the sudden shortness of breath, how his hands were suddenly clammy. He remembers the sweet, shy smile she'd given him afterwards, before slipping off the chair and telling him she had to go.

None of the kisses he's had in the years since have ever been able to measure up to that first one.

He cries for that little girl sometimes, and for the woman she could have been.
