i actually have something interesting to update with.
so, i live in a triple dorm room in high rise 5 at cornell university. when i first moved in, there were three girls and it was really cramped. one girl moved out to live with her friend. so for the past two and a half weeks, my roommate and i have been comfortably living in a triple room.
however today, while eating lunch with some friends, we get a phonecall saying that someone has moved in to my room. my initial reaction: "WTF". i SPRINT back to my room and there i see a girl with her parents, staring in disbelief at the small size of the room (and the messiness of it as well).
well, it turns out she was supposed to attend tulane. actually, she was already moved in there. then hurricane katrina struck. she's the first person i've met who had a first hand account of the disaster. she lost all of the stuff in her dorm, and left with the clothes on her back.
when i first found out i was going to have another roommate, i was pissed. like PISSED. i was so comfortable with the space i already had here. but now i feel selfish and just really bad. it must be really difficult losing all your things, going to another school, and moving in when everyone else already has their cliques. plus she seems like a nice girl.
furthermore 6 more tulane kids are moving into the lounge on our floor.
i still don't know how all of this is going to turn out, but i hope i can help in whatever small way possible.
