May reads

Finally some time and energy to talk about my may reads.
Basically, it's been Robertson Davies' month:
  • "Rebel Angels" and "What's bred in the bone" from the Cornish trilogy. Somebody asked what Rebel Angels was about and that was really hard to explain without it sounding boring. I suppose it is mostly the story of an obsession. Ayway, I loved both books plus learned a lot about gnosis, angels, daemons and Paracelsus and also learned an infalible way to seduce a man, though it is so gross I will never use it.
  • Amos Oz- "To know a woman" . I picked that one up because it had been chosen for a book club that in the end I didn't join and it sounded interesting. An enjoyable read. I didn't quite get why it was called "To know a woman", it seems to me the "hero" doesn't really know any of the people who are close to him. But then the family is strange. They only talk about neutral things, never about themselves when they are together.
  • Luis Graça- "A mulher que fazia recados às putas e outros contos perversos" ( don't feel like coming up with a translation right now)- That was fun! And I increased my slang vocabulary. I especially loved the story about the amoral grocery store owner.
