July Readings

I was thinking I actually only read one book this month (The Bone People, 541 pgs) but I remenbered I also read "The Firm", by John Grisham. I had seen the movie and always wondered about Grisham's books. Well, it's not the greatest literature but it's entertaining enough, and I could not put it down even if I thought some things were a bit too much: the hero outsmarts the mafia and the FBI, and why do all the women in the Cayman Islands have to  be gorgeous and wearing string bikinis?
As for the Bone People,  it's one of the books I have enjoyed the most this year. it was recomended to me on LJ for my 5x5x5 challenge for New Zealand. It's poetic, lyrical, funny, moving... It got the Booker Prize for a reason. In the begining you have these thoughts of the 3 main characters but you cannot understand what it's all about until 100 pgs later, when you finally makke the connections.I'm so nuts I even went to a website of maori lessons because I wanted to know what the maori bits sound like.
