Poet's Love
by Sailor Mercury
As all the things are full of my soul
you emerge from the things, full of my soul.
Dream’s butterfly, you’re alike my soul,
and alike the word melancholy.
Pablo Neruda, Poem 15.
On Kanagawa’s streets I found you, my Min-kun. Together we went over hills and beaches, only you and me. In a night of full moon we shared our first kiss, but when the moon showed its next face, you were no longer here, and in my mind only a thought was left: "no longer my eyes will be charmed in your eyes, no longer my pain will be sweeten by your side".
Nobody remembers him, only me. Maybe it was just an ilussion, an hallucination of my crazy mind, the imagination of a lonely man that only searches for an opportunity to love...
Kanagawa was witness of my truth, or was it just a lie disguised as reality? Today, sitting in front of the sea, I don’t know if he existed, but in my soul the sadness stays, 'cause in nights like this I had him in my arms, my soul is not satisfied with the loss of him.
The sea washes my pain, the wind dries my tears, and the verse falls to the soul as to the grass the dew. Maybe if I close my eyes, maybe just thinking in him, he’ll appear again in front of me, to love me and let me love him.
The ghost of loneliness comes back to me. Go away, I don’t want you here... you’re not who has to come, don’t you see that I’m still waiting for my Min-kun? Don’t tell me that my hopes are vain, nor tell me that he won’t come back... He’ll come back! He’ll come back, he’ll come back... because this love, love, hasn’t end, and as it didn’t have a birth, it doesn’t have a death. It’s not you, loneliness, who has to relieve my cry. Only my prince can do that, ‘cause he’s the only one who keeps the secret of my soul.
Kanagawa, you have been home of great poets, you inspired them proses and songs, but to me you only inspire sadness... sadness for the lost love, for the words not expressed, for my lost adolescence...
Kanagawa, accept me in between your waters. I’m not a triton as he was, but this land is not for me anymore. Slowly I let your sea to absorb me, and the remembrance of him to vanish, ‘cause in this story only I die, and I’ll die for love because I love you, because I love you, love, at blood and fire.
