I'm back! I'm bold! Maybe even beautiful!
What better way to start off than by quoting life long anime obsession of Sailor Moon?? :) Ahh. I got back from my trip just a bit ago. Much to say, much to write, much.. needed.. rest.
Fun with Highways
The trip up was good. Took a good.. oh, 5 hours? It was going well (all creepy pit stops in middle of nowhere aside) up until we started getting close to Tampa and the rain began to pour down. I was on the edge of my seat till we got off the expressway. Some bastard cop pulled us over at one point b/c we had the hazards on. We told him we were because we were going slow due to the said. He said we had no right to do it because we were going 80. The drive through Springhill (or whatever town we were in before arriving) was like something out of a horror movie. Stretches of darkness for what seemed to be eternity.. lots of hills and twists and turns and such.. lots of trees and land.. and this one very creepy ranch that had this big wooden entrance with barbed wire fencing on the sides which was very reminiscent of Nazi Germany concentration camps (at least, they did in the middle of a bad rain storm..). The most amusing part (which I unfortunately was unable to document) were the french ticklers and the like which I found inside a 7-11 bathroom. Very nice.
Oh, sugar. Come on.
Got to Alex's house at around 2am. His mom, Iliana, was very nice and such. We just hung out for a few hours and all talked and such, until I recall passing out on a couch. Next thing, Erik woke me up to go sleep on the mattress, which I did.. that is, until Benji (sweetest but most camera shy dog EVER) came over and began smelling my face to which I in turn freaked out because I was asleep. Gaaah. Eventually, I did get to sleep.
Next morning, Alex and his mom had already gone to work. Erik and I went to what seems to be the only fast food place within a 50 mile radius, and had some breakfast/lunch. Rushed our asses south to Tampa and easily found Channelside (the place were the fest was being held). Payed our dues and bought cool shirts and made our way to the rooms showing movies. I'll write up a short review of what we saw later. All I know is that some was real good, most was alright.. and then there was the WORST movie EVER made.. good god. Just terrible. Heh. After that, I went on a quest for pants (but they have no clothing stores open past 5 apparently??), so we made it back to Springhill. Hung out for a while in the house, played with Benji, and then went to pick up Alex cause someone dropped him off at a Dominos. Inside, we opted to pig on pizza. Good stuff. Rest of the time was spent driving the incredibly empty streets and conversing about things from killer tomatos to a freak bathroom flooding incident and listening to some funny cuban remakes of popular songs. Wound up passing out before everyone again, though, heh.
This morning I was awoken by Erik and I bitched a lot for a while. I was in a foul mood up until after we dropped off Alex at work and got me some breakfast at the local gas station. Went back and began cleaning up. Left the house and headed for one of the more populated roads in search of thrift shops and tattoo parlors. All thrift shops were closed due to what we believe is "god day".. a.k.a. since it's a church town, everyone's off at church instead of working for us, like they should. Damn bastards. Heh. Found one tattoo parlor open.. but after realizing it wasn't a good idea to get what I wanted done there, but rather on another day in Miami so my folks won't freak out too much. Also was a bit weirded out by the people. Meh. We left and decided we should begin heading back.
Way back was filled with conversation. I began formulating too many thoughts in my head though, to the point that I got a bit upset for a while. Made a few stops for provisions and such. Sunset was quite nice. Eventually we wound up lost in Broward because we missed our turn off or something. After much jibber jabber, we got it all settled, though, and made it home safe and soundly.
So.. what did I gain out of the trip, anyway?
List
- newfound appreciation for Miami
- newfound appreciation for Hispanic culture/people/language/etc
- a really cool shirt
- about 2 lbs... =*(
- a newfound appreciation for light posts
- a loss of about $40-50
- more knowledge of how to get around in Florida
- newfound appreciation for short distance of Broward and West Palm Beach counties
S'pose it was all for the better? Either way, had fun and got the hell out of this area for a while. All in all, good stuff. :)
In other news. . .
I've come back to Miami more confused than ever about near all situations regarding myself. I guess it adds excitement to my otherwise tawrdy little life, though, no? :) I'm happy.
P.S. The Anniversay is so so good, and I can't believe i'd almost forgotten.
