Christmas Present Pictures, Long Distance Friends, and Tom Foolery

So I'm a giant dork.  I'm sure all of you get that by now... :) In fact, most of you, my friends, probably have a least a little dork in you, which is why I feel such a kinship. :)  Anyway, for Christmas, I crocheted my poor little arms off and made hats and scarves for a lot of family and a few friends.  One such friend finally sent me pictures of she and our other friend (oh how vague I am) wearing the hats and scarves I made for them.  And upon seeing these pictures, I can see why these - these are my people. :)

I present: Diana Pharoah Francis and Christy K*muffle*

What's that you say?  That's not dorky?  Fine.  Let's take it up a notch.

Still not enough enough?  All righty then!  You're my kind of people too... here's the last pic:

Yeah, that's right.  Those are my friends.  And I am so proud of it!!  I wish that we all lived closer.  I would be there every day, cooking, talking, playing with everything smaller than me (you know, dogs, kids, and it looks like Christy too [in the red]).  But sadly I must simply enjoy their 'company' online and through some form of electronic communication.

Now, I met Christy through Di.  And Christy... she just gets my 'stupid'.  Oh how I love that!!  We can go back and forth and it doesn't stop.  (Sometimes I wonder if it even can...)

Di... well, I met her around the time that she was finishing up The Black Ship.  I had been following her blog for a short period and she mentioned that she wanted to do a glossary for the Black Ship.  I said (b/c I 'm an uber dork fangirl) that if I could read the book, then I'd write her a glossary that weekend.  And she said yes!!  Since then, I've been lucky enough to be a beta reader and we've become good friends.

For those of my friends who are of the writerly persuasion (published or not), Di started a great discussion on series, characters, and points of view so head on over and talk a spell!!
And because what kind of friend would I be if I didn't pimp her out... Di has three series:

1. The Path trilogy is an epic fantasy about Reisel, a woman who wants nothing more than to be the town healer despite the fact that the goddess has a different path in mind for her.  And not only is Reisel's life in an uproar, but the country is on the verge of a war that could destroy their entire way of life.  The first book: Path of Fate

2. The Crosspointe series are epic stories, each told from a different point of view, of civic unrest and the growing threat of a neighboring kingdom to their homeland.  The story starts with Lucy, who is a member of the Royal Family but because of a case tied up in court between the royals and the parliment (don't remember the term!), she works at the docks but her secret ability to detect majick causes her to become a wanted woman.  The first book: The Cipher

3. The Horngate Witches is an urban fantasy series that focuses on Max, a woman who has forcibly been changed from human into a Shadowblade.  Now forever controlled by her witch-bitch ex-roommate, she stalks the night leading a group of her kind, protecting their witch.  But the Guardians of Earth have decided to retake the planet and bring magic back and somehow Max ends up on the frontlines against them when all she wants is to be free.  The first book: Bitter Night

Ah, there... all are amazing and I highly recommend them!!  Go, buy, read, and enjoy!!!
