And I LOVED it!! I would have enjoyed it more if they idiot sitting directly behind us would have SHUT UP for more than 3 minutes... he even WHISTLED & HUMMED when the original theme song was playing. Can you believe it?!?!?
Anyway, beyond that, the movie was even better than Wolverine. I didn't think I'd like it that much but I was laughing the entire time, even when I was reacting to the tense situations. I thought they did an exceptional job on it. And I can see why some of the die-hard fans would have objections but until they know the entire story in the movie, they won't understand some of the choices made. I will explain now, under a cut.
Let's just preface this with saying that time travel IS involved. And I think they did a great job using. It allows them to change the character dynamics and relationships. It's still the world of Star Trek and there are many relationships that are the same, but b/c of the changes made in the youth of the Enterprise crew, their future is changed. But they are still together and their personalities are still the same. Yet it's perfect b/c you can still have Star Trek without them revisiting any of the things the series has already done. It's new and fresh.
I really hope they do a second movie... or more. I was a Next Generation girl (Deanna Troy FTW!!), but this was a good movie. And they didn't nearly give Scotty enough screen time!! Simon Pegg is a great actor.
So, go, see it... but don't read under the cut if you don't want minor spoilers. I was going to go more in-depth but I'll wait til more people see it.
