So I joined Twitter and Facebook recently... and mayhap something else but I can't recall. I think Plaxo perhaps. Anyway, as it turns out, I don't log-in to most things but My Yahoo (I really hate G-mail despite what all my friends say and I'm a Loyalist) and Twitter. I don't even make it onto LJ daily any more. Or into Mark Henry's Yahoo Group (which I sorely miss *waves*).
Twitter is completely addicting, but at the same time, wholy unsatisfying. The limit of 140 letters/spaces is gone to quickly. I am a verbose woman. I need room to breath. Yet, while I'm at work, Twitter is the perfect 30 second break from the mind numbing spreadsheets and issues. It's like a quickie in the airplane bathroom. You get in, you get it on, you get out before anyone is the wiser. And you're all proud of yourself for being sneaky and dangerous.
LiveJournal is something you have to cuddle up to and get to know. You build relationships and take the time to 'court' them. LiveJournal is the one you marry. The one you build a lifetime friendship with. It's here that I can say whatever I want, explain those random thoughts, gain insight from friends, and get support and empathy from those who have gone through similar things before. (I might be feeling a little nostalgic b/c I'm listening to good soundtrack music, but still...)
Facebook? That felt like I was a Russian bride selling myself online. Forcing attention on yourself and others. Nothing simple and quick like Twitter. And it's too revealing without being secure. I'm abandoning my Facebook and Plaxo accounts.
I never went near My Space. She's looks like an expensive escort, but I bet she's more the cheap whore type...
No, I'm going to stick with LiveJournal and Twitter. Twitter for fun b/c sometimes quickies are the perfect pick me up. And LiveJournal b/c I'm a girl and I need those deeper relationships. So to my friends who I've been neglecting, I'm working on it!! As for Mark's group, I need to get my ass back in there!! We have way too much fun for me to stay away. :)
