Book Review: Jeannine Garsee

Mar 21, 2009 22:33

I just finished the second book, Say the Word,  released by Jeannine Garsee (onegrapeshy ) and sit amazed.  She writes such poignant YA and about such difficult subject matters that I'm always impressed. Again, I had tears.  She has the best ending lines too.

I don't want to give any of the story away but thsi is an amazing read.  Jeannine gives you such fully-fleshed characters.  And I love reading the transformation that the main characters go through.  You can see them brimming on the edge of adulthood, dealing with the normal rigors of high school and maturity while struggling with deeper issues.

When I picked it up this afternoon, I didn't expect to sit and read it all tonight, but 4.5 hours later, I closed the book and wow.  I love her endings.  They always fit but she doesn't write romance novels that have the perfect endings.  They are real.  She doesn't sacrifice plot movement or how her characters would react to make it more than it should be.

Her other book, Before, After and Somebody Inbetween is a stand-alone, as is Say the Word.  Another read I'd highly recommend.

Well done, Jeannine!  I can't wait for the next one!
