" Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow. "
- Langston Hughes' Dreams (1967)
and here's the recap of my 2010:
EXCITING. 2010 has been a great learning year for me. a wonderful year that has taught me many life lessons - both good and bad; happy and sad.
SCHOOL
- officially doing my minor in finance. it was one of the many bold steps , which i have taken to challenge myself. knowing that i am never adequate when it comes to numbers and quantitative figures, i bit my teeth (each time) and sat through doing it, which i think would be beneficial for me in the long run.
- did relatively well (in my own context) for finance-related papers.
- the partnership and team dynamics among my marketing project group mates remains strong. and as we were forging stronger bonds, it sadden us further knowing that we are all left with one last semester - one last marketing project. it's gonna be a BIG one.
- did my exchange at UC Berkeley (the states) during the second quarter of 2010. had the opportunity to do modules which i can't really find it or do it in singapore.
the first half of human sexuality talks about the human reproductive system.
while the second half of the module is about understanding LGBT and the society.
- obtained a 3.75 / 4 for GPA.
- am offered to do a post-grad studies in australia. but i am still considering the possibilities of doing it so... i need to consider what's good for me - to study further or to enter into the workforce.
HOME / FAMILY
- pretty much the same. except that i have spent a day of my holiday to clear up the book shelves.
- my study table is still pretty much flooded with LEGO figurines. but this time round, it's the KNIGHTS Lego theme - castle, knights, catapults, outposts figurines are taking up space at a small corner of my table.
- younger brother has went in to serve the army. the house seems quieter and emptier now. hmmm...
WORK
- with the exchange scheduled on the second quarter of the year, i had made the decision to leave NUS business school.
- gathered experience and learning from my colleagues and bosses.
- am grateful that they are willing to share and taking great care of me during my working stint in nus. (=
LIFESTYLE / OTHERS
- am still keeping to my keep-fit combi 'gym-swim-run'
- managed to hit my goal - of achieving 65kg
- had the opportunity to travel parts of united states during my exchange.
to san francisco / california
(@ yosemite falls)
to las vegas / nevada
(@ grand canyon)
to new york
(@ times square)
*and many more pictures which are made available in facebook
- completed two marathons this year. and nope... i didn't attend 2010 SCM, because i've overslept. haha!
- picked up latin to better understand this dying language.
- went bangkok with friends - to feed my shopping desire. haha!
in bangkok - the residence
- successfully organised my quarter-century birthday party at studio M in september!
at studio m
FRIENDS / LOVE
- got to know more friends... traveling friends, second - third degree friends.
- was in two different relationships - 7 and 2.
- 7 has hit me the hardest for 2010. with much hopes and love, eventually it leads to decadence right after my exchange trip. even till this point, i am still picking up myself... bit by bit. because it has hit me the hardest, it wasn't easy to just get over with D and the attached emotional baggage.
- 2 came in when i was still in my recovery state. perhaps our perspectives towards a relationship were different right from the beginning, the consequences of living each other's expectations were just a dream. who are we kidding... but only ourselves.
MOVING ON TO 2011
there are couple of things, which i really hope i could achieve. and i am really praying hard that the process of achieving it, would not be as arduous and painful.
1. most importantly, maintaining my GPA... i could be very well graduating with a 'degree with distinctions".
2. keeping up with my keep-fit combi
3. mass building (it seems to be an every year thing) - my targeted weight would be 67kg
4. continues to brush up my latin knowledge
5. working hard to keep a healthy student class size of 10 Sec 2 and 10 Sec 3 students
6. be timely with my meetings and appointments
7. to materialise my graduation trip either to Oslo - Norway or Tibet
8. to do a photo-shoot in 2011 (that means i have to shape up my physique)
9. maintaining friendships, establishing networks and knowing more people
10. (in any case if i have decided to enter the workforce) being able to secure a job by the third quarter of 2011
11. to complete TWO full (42.1925km) marathons
12. to find a compatible partner (it seems to be always the case)
13. improve (or rather curb) my shopping habits
14. better manage my funds
15. be more productive and successful than 2010.
