"Bugger," Melanie muttered under her breath. She leaned heavily on the table, her fingers threaded tightly through her hair as she concentrated on reading the same paragraph in her Transfigurations textbook for the seventh time in a row. "You seem rather excited about your homework," Pansy smirked, watching the girl get more and more frustrated with what she was working on.

Melanie looked up at the new arrival with a clear 'no-fucking-really' look.

"I wonder where you got that idea," she replied mock cheerfully, faking a bright smile.

"Transfiguration?" she asked, glancing down at the textbook. "Quite a useless subject, if you ask me."

"I most definitely agree," Melanie sighed, leaning back in her chair. "Bloody pile of rubbish if you ask me."

"Especially if you look at who's teaching the bloody subject," Pansy added, rolling her eyes at the mere thought of Professor McGonagall.

"Old stiff," Melanie muttered, also rolling her eyes. "Shouldn't she retire already?"

"You would think she would," Pansy replied, glancing around before speaking again. "Dumbledore, too. He has to be one of the worst things that happened to this place."

"Of course, but that's old news," she said, waving off the topic absently. "It doesn't seem like anything'll be done about it either way."

"Yes, it's tragic, really," she said, sending glares in directions of the other non-Slytherin students.

Deciding to change the subject, Pansy brought up the first thing that popped into her mind. "Did you attend Pucey's party?"

"For a bit, yeah," she said with a nod, eyeing the other girl almost suspiciously. She tried to hide her skepticism, but she wasn't too sure what to think after the so-called rumors she had read in that Hufflepuff dimwit's journal. As untrue as they might sound, you never could tell these days.

"I heard you did."

"For a bit as well," Pansy shrugged. "With that stupid Hufflepuff girl spreading all that unnecessary mess, I almost wish I didn't."

She paused for a moment before adding, "But I guess it gives me something to get back at her for, you know? I could always...kick up a few rumors of my own or something."

"My thoughts exactly," Melanie said with a nod, clearly reasurred, at least for now. "I was actually thinking of starting up something for the hell of it. Shake up some dirt."

"That sounds brilliant, actually. Nothing like having rumors spread the right way," she smirked, liking the idea of spreading their own rumors more and more.

"We should definitely do it. If they're going to go around spreading idiotic lies, then we might as well throw it back in their faces," she said with a grin. This really was a good idea after all.

ooc: Eep! Wow, yeah, that's early. Go to sleeeeeeep. We'll finish off tomorrow (:

G'night!

"It sounds like a brilliant plan to me," she replied, returning the grin with a small one of her own.
