Still in the thick of it...
Arrrgh! Why did I put off averaging my grades?!!! Again?!?!!!
They gave us an extension earlier in the week. They aren't due until tomorrow at 11 a.m. So what did Melissa the Ubergenius do? Take advantage of the extra time? Oh hell no. I started averaging at 10 this evening.
So yes, I am officially a moron. Please feel free to jeer and throw things. My lazy, shiftless conduct is a shame to my profession.
As a brief respite from my self-inflicted grading hell, I offer a quick excerpt from an interview with poet Derrick Brown:

A: I'd like to lunch with Jeff Buckley, now ... and since he was dead at the table, I could eat all his french fries.

This guy is coming to Amarillo on April 21-23. Those of you who are in the area, you should really check out one of his shows. (More info at www.brownpoetry.com) He is fucking phenomenal.
I'll probably be at the performance Friday night -- so I'll buy whoever shows up a beer ... or a sody pop, depending on the Nat's beverage policy. (Honestly, it's been so long since I was there, I don't remember.)
In other news (yes, I know I overuse this phrase), GO OUT AND BUY the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album. It is damn good. Not as raw as the last one ... but still pretty energetic. And Karen O sounds tres Chrissie Hynde -- or maybe Siouxsie Sioux -- this time around.
I'm just saying.
