Before I go ... some images from the demonstration at my friend's school:
I know a lot of adults were probably appalled at this, and the official school line is, "There are better ways to go about voicing your opinion than disrupting the school day." But I've got to say, it excites me to see kids actually standing up in a loud, public way for what they believe in.
According to news reports, the principal caught wind of the protest before it was scheduled to happen, and supposedly met with the student body to encourage them to use alternate means, like writing letters to congressmen.
Mmmmm. Yeah. OK. Whatever.
I guarantee you, if they'd written letters, they wouldn't have ended up on the news.
