Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment

Jul 18, 2005 21:57

I've recently finished another book, and though I'm loath to admit it, especially considering the source of its recommendation, I found that it was absolutely incredible. It was so beautifully written that at times I felt like my heart would break, and was actually left in tears by the end.

Every character in the book was so incredibly human that there was no possible way that you could dislike them. Even the villain, whomever you might decide that is, will break your heart with his utter humanity.

It has been a long time since a novel has touched my heart quite like this one has. I have a feeling that it is going to remain very dear to me for years to come.

To my former acquaintance: for that, and that alone, I thank you.
