They discharged Tony on the fifteenth. Pepper waited for him in the lobby for an hour or two, and when at last they wheeled him out she was ready.

Tony tipped his head. "You look tired," he said. "Losing sleep?"

She smiled and said, "You look a little worn around the edges yourself."

"Forgive me, Potts, there was this, this explosion." He twirled his hand near his head. "I've kind of been in the hospital for a while. Maybe you noticed."

Pepper nodded to the orderly. She took the hands of the wheelchair in her own. "I noticed," she said, then gently guided him home.
