hands
We started with unsaid words on a bench somewhere far from the rest of the world. Strangers who spoke in a silent conversation, eyes distant, lost, and empty. Your first words were of the sea: still, calm, mysterious and enchanting. A few and slow seconds of silence, you stand and leave. The next day I see you at the same bench, eyes all but different. I sat, breathed, and listened to the blue in the horizon and to your words. Our routine continued-days into weeks and weeks into months. Your sight never left the sea, and I didn’t with you. We created a silent bond. A bond neither you nor I could put a finger on.
A same day came, but was different altogether. I could not recognize the twinkle in those orbs the moment you landed on mine. You said let’s hold hands, hello and thank you with a smile. We started with unsaid words on a bench somewhere far from the rest of the world, and ended with our names and hands entwined.
