I say this once with all the rage and contempt in my heart. And I speak with the most compassion and love I could have for you: do it.
As much as we local mindless drones are fearful and have an extravagant distaste for all things military, there are obvious and amazing perks with the territory.
There are benefits, health and insurance wise that will pay for itself.
You can get out of tickets. Speeding and whatnot. My parents got pulled over in Vermont once and the only thing the cop asked was if my mother or father was in the military.
Shit, I've even considered myself to join up. Doubtful as to where I'd go or what I'd do. Regardless...
As a nurse, I think you'd be safer outright. And who knows if you'll get put into the reserves or actually get moved overseas. I mean that's all circumstancial. There's no fine line as to where you'll go. People get moved around all the time.
And eventually, after all is said and done, you'll leave whatever base you're stationed at and come home, back to Jersey, and have some money in your pocket after having saved from living with brats.
Shit, you'll meet people just like yourself out there. There's no real downside except...
We're not coming along for the ride. And I don't mean that in bad lighting. You're a nursing major. You already know the consequences of that job. You're already facing times where you barely see your classmates studying for some ridiculous bio exam.
And life is pretty much like that, tenfold. You're gonna bust your ass for ten hours, maybe 12 and come home. Be tired as shit, eat something, then sleep.
Unfortunately, that's how life works.
But, we'll support you no matter what you choose. But if you join, you're more than likely to get a job.
And if that's the most important thing you're looking for, then I think you've answered the question yourself.
