GAIF VI (Great American Irish Festival 2009) is done, we are home, exhausted but happy.

Tomorrow is errands and personal packing. Vehicles get packed on Tuesday, dogs go to camp, and we enjoy a last evening at home. If the weather doesn't look to be too sucky, we will head down Wednesday. If Thursday looks to be better, we'll go down then.

So, the Halfway Hoolie was today (Great American Irish Festival party that marks the midpoint between last year's festival and the upcoming one). They announced the major lineup for the festival and the Grand Marshall for the St. Patrick's Day parade ( Read more... )

FWIW, I hate XPlay in its current incarnation. But I guess I'm not the primary target audience.

So...( Cut for those who aren't into melancholy at the moment )

It was a blast! It was, and has been every July for the last 5 years! We *just* (as in 20 minutes ago) got back from the volunteer party (they throw us a party after the festival closes). Lots of food, beer, and music (this year The Elders played for us, and Enter the Haggis joined them for the encore). Very cool.

But we are TOTALLY exhausted.

Tonight I madly grade papers. Starting at about 3:30 PM tomorrow, going until "whenever" Sunday night I will be surrounded by live music and drunken Irishmen. As will my sweeties. I'm dealing with volunteers and the entrance gates, Duke is working the Gate Friday and then Security Saturday and Sunday, and Duchezz is feeding performers on Saturday ( Read more... )
