Well, all this week I've been working on my resume, losing my resume, and recovering my resume... I'm starting to think that a flash drive could be a very good investment for me. The job front looks good. I need to teach myself Outlook and Outlook Express and add it to my resume, as a lot of the posted jobs require knowledge of it, and I have none. Oh, a few also require Lotus Notes experience. Now, my parents' first computer was a Lotus system, but I'm sure that Lotus has changed since in the last 16 years or so. I wonder...maybe my CSSS membership gives me access to a free Notes disc :)
I'm thinking more and more of setting my computer as an XP/xubuntu dual-boot. I just have to test and see if my bios will boot from a USB drive (dodgy as lappy was built in 2001), with Knoppix. I just have to burn the ISO as a bootable CD. So I'm thinking that I'll do the Knoppix stuff on the weekend with Jeff home.
Yesterday I was out most of the day with my parents. We went to a buffet for lunch - the place hasn't changed since my fourth birthday, I swear! And then we went to hardware stores and such. Mum and I were looking at flower seeds, and Dad was looking at farmy stuff. I got a new mop and bucket, so this weekend I can clean the basement, and bill the landlady since she was supposed to have done it months ago (and I was once a professional house cleaner). I got a new purse! (Pics after my camera batteries are done charging.)
I also gave my mom her Christmas pressie yesterday - a bag of potpourri and a garden calendar/journal set. She called me this morning saying how much she loved the calendar and journal; they apparently have dates for starting certain plants indoors, and hints and tips. So she was on the phone to me a few times today with ideas for her garden and for mine. So she's starting some things extra for me, like lobelia, morning glory, canary vine, lavatera, and I don't know what else for flowers. She's also starting some bell peppers and habaneros for me.
I also planted some garlic, which sprouted last week, today. and my pot wasn't big enough for all the sprouts, so I'm trying to decide if I should scramble for another pot and soil, or if I should scramble to find recipes to use it all (like flavoured oils and vinegars, and freezer meals and stuff). So many options, and me a nearly-true Libra - lol!
Oh...yesterday I didn't get back from going out with my parents until nearly 4pm. I had so much to put away (mop and bucket, some pumice hand cleaner for after working in the garden come spring, some flower seeds for me, a new exercise mat, my tax package and my weights (mum brought my 3lb dumb bells and my ankle weights from home). I spent a lot of time organizing my new purse though. I'm so bad *giggle*. So, at 5pm I had to make a mad dash to pack my weights, a towel, change into my sweats, grab a bottle of water, pack my shoes, grab my bag and purse and get to one of the Jen's places to get a ride to jazzercise, which feels like a much better workout with the weights. So, once again, the trip to, the class itself and the trip from was close to 4 hours. I don't think this will be sustainable once I have a job. It's disgusting to think that I could make the trip to Saskatoon in less time than it takes to get from downtown to the northwest part of my small city, have an hour class, and then get home again.
Anyways, I'm starting to get a hunger headache with a bit of dizziness if I move my head too fast, so it's time for me to go get something to eat.
Oh, my parents also brought my mail. I have another letter from the cervical cancer prevention people. In light of one of my friend's recent diagnosis and treatment, I do realize it's an important issue. But I find it really creepy that they know the exact last time I had a pap test. Do they pay doctors for this information, or what? I know that I never consented to have that information released, so I find these letters every six months disconcerting. But, is the "our records show your last cervical cancer screening was on dd mm yyyy (or mm dd yyyy)" letter common, or is it just my area, or what?
