20th Century Boys
So, Joel at work recommended this awesome manga for me to read. It's 20th Century Boys by Urasawa Naoki, who also writes Monster. I've been reading it online at work for the past few weeks. And it's fucking awesome.
And that's a good thing. Because I've been rather irritated with manga lately. And I think I found out why. All the trash that's been brought over and is popular in the bookstores is generally aimed at teenagers. I've seen it all. They all follow the same pattern. But 20th Century Boys is seinen manga, targeted to an older audience (male, but who the fuck cares?). And Urasawa Naoki is a fucking genius.
20th Century Boys is fucking Literature, man. Literature, with a fucking capital "L". Fuck yeah.
READ IT. 'Cause it's absolutely amazing.
