Paris

1.Is beautiful. Duh. :)

2.It is also ass cold. I have warmers/longjohns. I'm double layering them under my jeans. Laugh, bitches, let's see how you do when that freezing gust of wind blows across the Seine and hits you in the face hard enough to make your cheeks sting. It actually snowed my first day here. But I'm walking around Paris if it kills me *makes fist*.

3.I am also butchering the language regularly. Everyone told me one could get around with English. Somehow, it just doesn't work for me. I always do my parlez vous hoping for an affirmative...and it hasn't come yet. *shrug* Your ears, people. Your ears.

Which takes me me to...

4.I have been stopped six times by French-speaking people asking me for directions or whatever. It feels a bit frequent, I'm kind of baffled (in my head I've been wandering around looking o.o for two days, why would you stop someone who's looking all o.o?).

5.I've touched upon all the museums care to for this trip--Louvre, D'Orsay, Cluny, L'Orangerie, the Pompidou. I hate to say it, but I think I'm arted out. The Pompidou did rock, their exhibit was on women artists and their mark on modern art. That museum crushed me. I wanted to see everything, then I wanted to die. My knees, my back, the flat of my feet...ow, ow, ow. Bless that museum pass though. It's wonderful to cut in front of the lines, which are not ridiculous, but are still a pain.

6.We also went to the Notre Dame while they were having mass on Sun. It was a really wonderful and surreal experience. That was part of the "historic Paris" walk we did before hitting up some the museums. Kinda ended up overextending ourselves (the s.o. only had one day--he was in meetings until 8 today and the same schedule holds tomorrow) and collapsing in a heap in the hotel room after gorging on croissants, ham and cheese. On the positive side ka-ching. We blew that money we saved today on dinner, which was yummy.

7.We're leaving on Wed, so tomorrow, if my legs hold up (they might not), I will haul ass to Montmatre, do the Rue Cler and Marais walks and hit up a department store for souveniers. The s.o. might try to skip out early to do the Eiffel tower. We'll see, I just know I hurt all over.

It's a good kind of hurt.

so it all doesn't become mush in my head, paris, rl: wtf is that shit
