A gala dinner and fashion show billed as 1cBrilyante: The Empowered Woman 1d was conceived by the Mu Sigma Phi Sorority of the UP College of Medicine not only in 1ccelebration of women 19s strength, health and vitality 1d but also as a fund-raising vehicle for the benefit of the Cervical Cancer Prevention Network Program and the Service Committee of the sorority. Moreover, it is also designed to highlight the Sorority 19s 75th (or diamond) anniversary thus the 1cbrilyante 1d in the title.
The theme was conceived thus to show the Sorority 19s continuing influence on the health concerns of Filipino women. While the fashion show is a manifestation of its relentless drive to pursue its commitment towards solidarity, dedicated service, scholastic excellence, and leadership in the field of medicine and health. Some of the country 19s top and promising fashion designers, among them Delby Bragais, Parrish Carlos, Tina Daniac, Rhett Eala, Jun Escario, JM Goulbourn, OJ Hofer, Michelle Lim, Richie Ortega-Torres, Randy Ortiz and Philip Rodriguez.
1cBrilyante 1d is being presented in cooperation with the Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP) and the clothes will be donned by professional models and prominent society personalities including veteran ramp model Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez, socialite Tessa Prieto-Valdes, model-actress-TV host Angel Jacob, and Trade Ambassador Mela Bengzon.
The event, which is also campaign for awareness on cervical cancer and other diseases caused by human papillomavirus or HPV, is slated on August 28 at the NBC Tent in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
UP-PGH OB-Gyne Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Angela Rodriguez-Bandola, Mu Sigma Phi Sorority 1999 and co-chair of 1cBrilyante, 1d said, 1cpart of our thrust for women empowerment is our advocacy for cervical cancer awareness. We have always dedicated ourselves to championing worthwhile causes 13 and one of the most pressing medical concerns right now is the issue of cervical cancer among women. 1d
Dr. Genara Manuel-Limson, chair of 1cBrilyante, 1d revealed that cancer of the cervix is the second most common cancer among women. Every year, an estimated 6,000 Filipino women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and more than half of them die of the disease.
