1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Got kissed, got really good male friends, umm... got a bit screwed up, got into a stereotypical teenage angsty romantic drama. :P (And no, I don't expect you to know what I am talking about there).
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't tend to make New Year's resolutions, generally. I can never keep them.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My great-aunt Hori. I wasn't really close to her, but I was just getting to know her when she died, and she was an really really amazing lady.
5. What countries did you visit?
France, Germany.
6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Really good exam marks. And maybe a significant other would be nice.
7. What date from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I'm not sure. 22nd June was the Prom, and that I really looked forward to.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting over myself.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Having a self that needed getting over.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had a really nasty flu in the autumn.
Does PMS count?
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I would say The Will of the Empress, but my dad bought that for me. Therefore, my prom dress.
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
Friends, because they are generally wonderful people. Kettle, Ting and Anto as particularly wonderful listeners. And Ed and Philly, who made my birthday special.
Katy, of course.
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Suffolk murderer, George Bush, various homophobes.
14. Where did most of your money go?
In the summer, I did a lot of retail therapy, so probably a mix of clothes and jewellery and Christmas and birthday presents.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Starting sixth form, Katy coming back from Madagascar, going to Vienna and California (neither of those have happened yet).
16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again - PotO. Love that song.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier, certainly.
ii. richer or poorer? Quite a bit richer, due to Katy having got a higher allowance for sixth form, and my getting equal treatment. :P
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Being nice to my mum.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Being a bit melodramatic and self-obsessed.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
At home, with my family and Granddad.
22. Did you fall in love in 2006?
Yes.
23. How many one-night stands?
None. Sad.
24. What was your favourite TV program?
Either Doctor Who, or Torchwood. Doctor Who probably wins on the gore count, but Torchwood definitely gets in there on sex and accents. :P
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No. But I'm more generally inclined to dislike people, which is sad.
26. What was the best book you read?
Couldn't say.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Hmmm... I'm inclined to say my new viola teacher, but I also learnt that Bridge is pretty, that I am good at writing serialism, and never to agree to play Brahms.
28. What did you want and get?
Quite a lot of things, mainly books.
29. What did you want and not get?
Slimmer.
30a. What was your favourite film of this year?
History Boys.
30b. What was your favourite theatrical production of this year?
Ditto.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 16, and it was the first day of an orchestra course at a boarding school. I would have been rather bad without Ed and Philly, as aforementioned. I got my lovely new phone the day before.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Getting better GCSE results. And I know this is making me sound like a Habs girl, but I really should have done better.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Not always usual, but mostly interesting and/or pretty, I hope.
34. What kept you sane?
Well, I didn't always stay sane - what retunred me to sanity was my sister, my friends, and my chocolate.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Tricky - John Barrowman, I will have to say. Although Eva Green is the sex.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
I don't know whether it's really a political issue, but I got really scared over the Suffolk murders. Aside from that, I was generally mildly annoyed by politicians.
37. Who did you miss?
Katy.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Anthony, I would say. Technically, I probably met him before this year, but I only really got to be friends with him this year. Lucia, too, of course.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006.
As an adult, it is never possible to be completely happy. Any happiness has to be cultivated, and sometimes the only thing you can do is try to be happy, even if it doesn't quite work.
2006,
