You know...
I find it a little sad that India, a country not known for being liberal or equality-minded (they still have a caste system!), should elect a female president before the United States, which is (ideally) supposed to be all about equality and democracy.
I understand that the position of President does not have a lot of real power, being mostly ceremonial...but still. This is a country well-known for discrimination against women. She won by something like two-thirds of the vote too.
And here in the US, strong female politicians in any position are still looked at with suspicion.
