My store just rolled out team member at-a-glance, where the computer automatically documents late breaks and tardiness. Now everyone is scared that they'll get fired for something stupid. At the moment, people are afraid to call in and a good number of people think that if you call in at all (even if you're not a repeat offender), you'll automatically get written up for it. My favorite part of the whole thing was the individual meetings with your team leader prior to the roll-out. I was actually told by my team leader that "Meijer is not out to fire anyone." I wanted to start laughing. Isn't this precisely the whole point of the system? Especially since they can fire you after three write-ups, it seems to me that having the system do what team leaders wouldn't always do will lead to more terminations. The years of being treated like crap by management didn't result in any of their top-rate high seniority team members quitting, so the company had to move on to more drastic measures.
Our corporate scheduling will be rolling out in a month or two. I can't wait for that one. I know that store directors and lines leaders will be able to alter the schedule, but I can see vacations amd requests for days off getting denied right and left. That will lead to people calling in more often, leading to further discipline and terminations. If Meijer keeps going at this rate, pretty soon they'll have no team members left because everyone will get fed up and quit.
I know other stores already have these programs rolled out. I was wondering if how they are working/not working for everyone and if there are a lot of problems. I also have a question about it. I was told that you had to take "break, lunch, break," in that particular order by my team leader. However, other people at my store have told me that they've been told it doesn't matter what order you take them in, just as long as everything gets taken. Thanks in advance!
