Spain 1-0 Paraguay
♥♥♥
1. David Villa, now the leading scorer for the WC at 5! Klose behind him at 4 and Sneijder at 4 (if they rule Felipe Melo's own goal in favor of Sneijder). ILLA ILLA ILLA VILLA MARAVILLA!
2. EVERYONE SHOULD BOW DOWN TO SAINT IKER, OKAY. Fucking amazing, Iker Casillas.
3. This was the first match since the 1930s were there were two in-game penalty kicks that were saved. Holy fuck, this game. PK for Paraguay, which Iker saved; then PK for Spain, which Xabi made. But fuck his stupid teammates for fucking that one up; I didn't know they got do-overs on PKs but his second one was saved. :(
4. Nando started again and was subbed out soon after the second half started for Cesc. I know people are complaining about how he's not living up to expectations, hasn't played well, shouldn't be in the starting line-up anymore, etc. And I agree that his confidence levels are probably shot and he isn't up to form, but I think people should consider how much support his teammates have been giving him (in interviews). I can't say much about him on the pitch (also because I know shit about football tactics), but he's said to be an incredible presence in the locker room; I think we shouldn't automatically discount what emotional and psychological strength he may be contributing. It's just a thought. STILL, I'd like him to score again. :/ All I ever want to do is cuddle him aldghjf.
ALSO CONSIDER THIS: Torres hasn't been doing well but I just have to say, Spain lost the only game he didn't start...
5. CESC SHAVED. \o/
6. Poor Sergio Ramos, kicked in the face. Ow. Damn, Spain bleeds a lot for their team.
7. Spain needs to play a hell of a lot better than they did today in order to even do well against Germany, much less potentially win. SO FUCKING NERVOUS, YOU GUYS, but while my head says support Germany because they are effective and efficient and damned good (omg watching their teamwork is amazing; their beautiful passing and unselfish plays ♥), but my heart is still for Spain.
8. CONGRATULATIONS FOR MAKING IT INTO YOUR FIRST WORLD CUP SEMIFINALS, ESPAÑA!
I have nothing else to say. Germany was phenomenal against Argentina today and it was beautiful to watch them play and win. Well-deserved; probably the best team I've seen play in this WC. Which of course terrifies me as a Spain fan, but props props props. I love my Deutschland too, I swear; fucking bracket is just out to screw me over.
Now Imma lurk in ontd_fb party/gif posts and bask for a bit. Viva España~ ♥ Too tired to share; y'all go search on your own. ;)
