reaction: Okay, so this fic completely and totally broke me. I usually hate illness!fics but this one--well, it was Teukie, okay? I can admit my bias. Just. The way everyone clung to him and fell apart a little without him--it was beautiful in a painful way. It was beautiful because I love to see him needed, I want to believe that he is their leader, no matter what. They depend on him, they love him, and alsfkdjlskd. The details of the different way each member shows his care and worry is fantastically written. I cry all over the Kangin section because I can, dammit --not that I wasn't crying all over the entire fic. BUT THERE IS A HAPPY ENDING. That makes it okay. I promise. alskfjlsdk. Thank God for happy endings. I wouldn't be able to deal with a Teukie!centric fic without--okay, that's a lie. I have one to rec next time that is not a happy ending and made me :( :( :( a lot. But this fic is ♥.

reaction: This...is not gonna get memoried, because it's a gratuitous angst set-up. One-sided love can rarely be anything else. That's not to say this isn't good, because it is, and it makes me hurt for Kibum, but it doesn't go above and beyond. It doesn't stand out like some of her other fics. But I thought I'd rec it because it's well-written KiHae and that's a rarity.

reaction: I actually find the language to be...a little stilted. It tries too hard to use big, poetic words where simple ones would have sufficed; the long words are actually jarring, detracting from the mood and flow of the drabbles. Still, kind of recced because of the idea and theme behind these drabbles are good--it hits the core of what makes Teukie my favorite, that he's the leader and has all these extra responsibilities and doubts, that he has such a huge discrepancy between his two personas. So, yeah, a little glimpse into that, into why he still edges out the other twelve for me.

Loosely based off Goong/Princess Hours with Prince Shiwon and not-a-girl!Hae and future KiHae and Dean Ho Dong omfg. I died. I love the premise of this fic so much and I absolutely, totally cannot wait for more.

reaction: LOL @ Hae!logic. This is WAFFy and fluffy and cute, because it is KiHae and full of demented Hae. ♥ Sometimes I am tired of stereotyping Donghae to be the space cadet obsessed with aliens but when it's cute like this, it works, and I don't mind.

reaction: I don't know how I feel about memorying this fic b/c the premise is such gratuitous angst. I knew it. I knew it would wreck me and make me cry--I just didn't know how much. There were...moments in this piece, that were outstanding. It's in the revelation of everyone's interaction, of how important each member is to each other member, how twelve can love one, and one can love twelve. It's about Donghae, which automatically breaks my heart, and his friendships. This fic is made in the details of the way these boys care, from getting angry to smiling reassuringly to sleeping next to Hae's bed to making him laugh, making him trust again. It's not the gratuitous angst that gets me: it's the depth of care between these boys. It's the strength of love and friendship. (I want that.)
Of course what gets me is how much Teukie cares for his babies, how the role of band leader turned into the role of mother, maybe without his consent, but how could he ever refuse it? He welcomes it now, because he loves them, wants to protect them. They're his. His repsonsibity and his pride and his joy and his refuge.
Then there's Kangin's section. Probably my favorite, because I wasn't sure how he would react--he's a "manly man" after all. But this seemed to pinpoint it. Anger, at Hae, at the world, at himself. Regret. Protection.
Then there are Yesung and Heechul's parts. My other favorites.
The KiHae was almost unnecessary, but I won't turn it down. She made it fit more or less and it was touching--not moreso than the platonic love of all the other members, but still. I don't turn down KiHae when I can get it. ;)
Overall, wrenching fic. I can forgive the premise for the beautiful subtleties of love between the members it managed to depict. plus, Hae. My heart aches. ;_;

She took the "freefall" prompt that every single motherfucker writing the SuJu100 challenge has turned into ANGST and BROKEN FUCKED UP KANGTEUK and she made it gold. She made it happy and fluffy but not overly so, she made it cute and funny and with plot. I died and went to heaven a little bit when I read this fic. It's just--one of the most amazing AUs ever. Plus KangTeuk. Plus Heechul. This fic is so amazing, my heart explodes with love.

reaction: This is the singular best fic in all of Macdonald Hall fandom. I swear by all seven of Korman's Macdonald Hall books. This fic is long (65K) and reads like a fucking book. It is AMAZING. The author has totally captured the Korman voice--from describing the antics to the dialogue to scenes of Mr. Sturgeon with his wife. Oh my God. Bruno! Cathy and Diane! All the silly cast! Endless committees! And the perfect, perfect plot to carry it all through. OMFG. It is like Korman wrote Bruno/Boots. I can die happy now. This fic is beyond amazing. ♥♥♥

Compare it, for instance, to this or this actual Haengbok performance by the real SuJu. Neither are the performance these girls referenced and I swear I've seen it, but I can't find it now... * Star King is a Korean television show kind of like America's Got Talent--it showcases random people with random talents, often kids or groups. It's ten times funnier than the US version because the Korean audiences react and Korean television has a tendency of bringing celebrities onto the show to serve as audience and to interact with competitors. Super Junior, for example. It makes for some hilarious moments, if only to watch the celebrities' reactions to these talents. Oh, there's another way it differs from America's Got Talent--most of the people on the show? Have talent. They don't make the audition cut otherwise, unlike in the US where you get weird old men doing yoga or weird ladies trying to talk to birds. Star King is one of the best shows in Korea because I can watch it without having to understand much Korean at all, wahaha. Also, it's hosted by Kang Ho Dong, whom I love, because he is incredibly funny and also host to Yashimmanman, another of my favorite shows.

* Star King is a Korean television show kind of like America's Got Talent--it showcases random people with random talents, often kids or groups. It's ten times funnier than the US version because the Korean audiences react and Korean television has a tendency of bringing celebrities onto the show to serve as audience and to interact with competitors. Super Junior, for example. It makes for some hilarious moments, if only to watch the celebrities' reactions to these talents. Oh, there's another way it differs from America's Got Talent--most of the people on the show? Have talent. They don't make the audition cut otherwise, unlike in the US where you get weird old men doing yoga or weird ladies trying to talk to birds. Star King is one of the best shows in Korea because I can watch it without having to understand much Korean at all, wahaha. Also, it's hosted by Kang Ho Dong, whom I love, because he is incredibly funny and also host to Yashimmanman, another of my favorite shows.
