But then I was happily surprised because the writing turned out to be much better than expected of a typical Truth or Dare fic. It was funny and sexy and totally inconceivably impossible, but so much fun. Ensuing couple-centric smut chapters were A+. My favorite remains the KangTeuk chapter because swing!sex and then bath!sex and something wonderful about their interaction. Just. Yeah. The ShiHan was hot too though. I can't wait for the CinHae. ♥

It's wonderful characterization and storytelling, for all that it's not more than a few minutes out of the characters' lives.

Draco’s attempt to heal himself via Muggle psychology - including writing a series of ‘why I hate you’ letters to Harry - backfires when an overanxious house elf delivers the results to Harry. Harry is bemused, Draco is angry and together they have a lot of issues to work out.
reaction: This is very, very funny, incredibly enjoyable to read, and lengthy. I really liked the characterizations in this and the pacing and--well, I admit it's been a few weeks since I've read it, but it left a highly favorable impression on my mind, so I'm reccing it with gusto. Trust me!

reaction: I think I liked this fic even more than the previous. It was just so clever and well-written. I love a good vampire fic! This was yummy and a wonderful way to pass time. The ending is a lovely surprise twist too and very fitting. It also makes me kind of heartmark a little bit just because. So good.

reaction: I was a little wary of this fic at first because I'm not overly fond of the HP-characters-living-in-the-Muggle-world plot. It tends to take away the best part of the HP world: the magic. I gave this one a chance though and it's--exquisite. Kind of painful because, well, sometimes there's just no way to return home. There are some great Malfoy family dynamics in this fic: I love Narcissa. I tend to, being the biased fangirl I am (Deathly Hallows only helped me along), but this fic was especially good to her, I think. There was a good resolution, too--a sort of happy ending, which is nice to have during the holidays. :)

summary: There’s a trail of clues scattered across Wizarding London - Harry’s determined to follow it home.
reaction: Another fic I was kind of "eh" at first about. But the ending was lovely and the fic as a whole was even better upon rereading. The writing is beautiful, with some wonderful, mood-making descriptions. It really works as a whole. It's short but it packs a lot into those few thousand words. Very good.

summary: Books have the power to shape young lives. At least that is the hope of the anonymous author of a best-selling series about a Muggle boy and his best friend on the eve of a world war. But stories do more than just shape the future: they can redress the wrongs of the past as well. But only as long as it’s not too late...
reaction: This is the most commented on fic in the entire exchange. It got recs and debates in personal journals because of how good it was. My thoughts? Well--crying, yes. It made me cry. I tend to cry a lot, though; I'm easy that way. Is it as epic as it pretends to be? No. There are no real life lessons in this fic. Does that detract from how powerful and poignant it is as a piece of writing? No. It is a truly wonderful piece of fiction, epilogue-compliant, with an almost-flowery descriptive prose that could work no other way. I hurt hardest for Scorpius--I love him so--but it was a beautiful Harry/Draco story too. It's a fic that will leave you hurting a litte, thinking a little, and feeling a lot. But I wouldn't go so far as to say it's the best thing I've ever read, even in the fic exchange.

reaction: I gleed when I saw that it was Veela!fic. I love Veela!fic--as long as it's done well. This? Was definitely done well. And bonus points! Harry is a veela! Harry hates it! It's a fabulous, fabulous read, so much fun, with a totally in-character, bastard Malfoy who is extortionist and Slytherin to the core. I love it.
title: Kiss A Boy In London Town (And Other Intimate Misadventures of A Society Whore)

summary: There's only one cardinal sin for a whore.
reaction: Epilogue-compliant. It takes a lot for me to like a whore fic. It takes even more for me to like fic written in the first person. This fic manages to do both and exceptionally well. This. Wow. I'm blown away by this fic--its length, to start with. It is ridiculously long, but every bit of it is pertinent to the fic. It's a wonderful long read and everyone is amazingly in character. No on is cariacterized, stereotyped, cast aside--especially the wives, which is key. I adore Draco's ex-wife, adore Pansy and Narcissa. I adore Harry and Draco's interaction and conflict and relationship. But most of all? I adore Scorpius. I adore Scorpius, who is the most precious four-year-old in existence, and his relationship with his Papa. This story is about Draco as a whore, about his getting together with Harry, but it is so much more. So good.
--and there are more. So many more. But I stopped keeping track b/c of exams (at least that's my excuse). I think this is only through Dec 8 or 9 on hd_holidays and, well, I know I've missed a lot on merry_smutmas. I've picked and chosen a few of the ones that have caught my eye and made me take notice, but you all should go and read more! There are some very good pieces out there waiting to be read and appreciated!

reaction: This is the most commented on fic in the entire exchange. It got recs and debates in personal journals because of how good it was. My thoughts? Well--crying, yes. It made me cry. I tend to cry a lot, though; I'm easy that way. Is it as epic as it pretends to be? No. There are no real life lessons in this fic. Does that detract from how powerful and poignant it is as a piece of writing? No. It is a truly wonderful piece of fiction, epilogue-compliant, with an almost-flowery descriptive prose that could work no other way. I hurt hardest for Scorpius--I love him so--but it was a beautiful Harry/Draco story too. It's a fic that will leave you hurting a litte, thinking a little, and feeling a lot. But I wouldn't go so far as to say it's the best thing I've ever read, even in the fic exchange.

reaction: I gleed when I saw that it was Veela!fic. I love Veela!fic--as long as it's done well. This? Was definitely done well. And bonus points! Harry is a veela! Harry hates it! It's a fabulous, fabulous read, so much fun, with a totally in-character, bastard Malfoy who is extortionist and Slytherin to the core. I love it.

reaction: Epilogue-compliant. It takes a lot for me to like a whore fic. It takes even more for me to like fic written in the first person. This fic manages to do both and exceptionally well. This. Wow. I'm blown away by this fic--its length, to start with. It is ridiculously long, but every bit of it is pertinent to the fic. It's a wonderful long read and everyone is amazingly in character. No on is cariacterized, stereotyped, cast aside--especially the wives, which is key. I adore Draco's ex-wife, adore Pansy and Narcissa. I adore Harry and Draco's interaction and conflict and relationship. But most of all? I adore Scorpius. I adore Scorpius, who is the most precious four-year-old in existence, and his relationship with his Papa. This story is about Draco as a whore, about his getting together with Harry, but it is so much more. So good.
--and there are more. So many more. But I stopped keeping track b/c of exams (at least that's my excuse). I think this is only through Dec 8 or 9 on hd_holidays and, well, I know I've missed a lot on merry_smutmas. I've picked and chosen a few of the ones that have caught my eye and made me take notice, but you all should go and read more! There are some very good pieces out there waiting to be read and appreciated!
