Spouse is still laid up. Sunday the kids very kindly took me shopping. When we got back from the store, Alex was awake, and, when he saw the house, said "Grandpa!"
He hustled up to the door, all the way repeating "Grandpa. My Grandpa." I found it very exciting.
The last time we went to their house I happened to be in front as we approached the door, and, when he ran to answer it, he motioned me out of the way so he could reach his grandpa. He has been this way since birth, and Grandpa is just as delighted to see him.
I have been remembering the walk to the house with a little smile ever since. It is fun to hear him express himself so clearly, and wonderful that he is very clear with his feelings. With adults, it is hard for me to understand what they want, but Alex knows, and is clear and honest. Hooray!
In cat news, the outdoor siamese actually spoke to us on Saturday, and allowed spouse to touch him. He wouldn't come in, but asked for food, and received it. Small steps. I hate to think of the cat out tonight in the cold, but he (she?) does have a thick coat.
I wrote this probably a couple months ago, and didn't get a chance to post it because the cat stepped on the keyboard. Today I found out that LJ now saves drafts, and it wasn't lost forever. The child is now talking a blue streak, and I no longer see the siamese.
