So the slightly overweight man was in love with his middle school friend, but she was clearly out of his league. Still, he enjoyed spending time with her.
Together then traveled the toiled of high school, joking and enjoying joys and sorrows. The pains of growing up.
Her father was insane, and may have been molesting her? Schizophrenic.
One day she introduced them finally, having spent too long being afraid of him. The male boyfriend figure was afraid, but went along as the father explained the intricacies of his D&D campaign.
Until something said by the other sister set the father off into a murderous rage, and he ran away. Ashamed again, he avoids her for awhile- selfishly.
The rift expands of course, with her thinking him scared off, and he, as we have said, ashamed.
One day he arrives with some other friends to visit her in her semi-rundown apartment. A common occurrence now, his uncomfortable feelings around her are made all the more acute, as his love has done naught but grow.
They arrive to find her in the aftereffects of breaking up with one Ralpho. An actor who once played a beloved minor character on an old sitcom.
Our intrepid hero begins by once again obviously ignoring the situation and chatting it up with Ralpho as Ralpho plays his Nintendo DS. Until Ralpho, with uncommon rudeness sneezes on the hero’s face, getting spittle on his glasses.
Thus begins a rant, saying “How fucking rude can you be? I’ve known you for less than 10 mins and you spit on my glasses. I’ve been in love with Corrinna here for over 14 years, and she’s never spit on my glasses.”
Our hero, the silly fool is so enraged that he misses his accidentally switching of the words “I’ve known” for his too long squelched “I’ve been in love with”…
Corrinna however overhears this as she stands in the background, as do their myrid of mutal friends. Ralpho remains oblivious.
Quickly the mutual friends conspire to remove Ralpho and themselves, on a stunningly bad pretense, and our hero is left alone with Corrinna again.
