End-of-the-year review 2011

Totally stole this from opticalbinary, yet again.

1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
Travel to another country.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I think I did? I don't generally make any beyond .

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes. One sister-in-law had triplets, and another had a son.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My friend Jelaludin's cancer, which we had thought in July was in remission, came back in September in his brain. He died Oct 31.

5. What countries did you visit?
Italy!

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
A government that remembers it's there by the grace and endurance of the people would be great. Barring that, a week-long supply of food and water would be good, as we seem to be getting more and more dangerous weather around where I live.

7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
April 1st, when my triplet nieces were born healthy. Wednesday Oct 26 when we arrived in Florence, Italy.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Using the long-arm machine to quilt Emily's Sky, holding the Sex in Gaming workshop at Lucca, writing Psi-Run, and homeschooling Tovey. Also, donating significantly to harmanhay ' s excellent project.

9. What was your biggest failure?
I take it as a sign of grace that I can't think of it.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Not that I recall? Certainloy nothing like the flu last fall. Oh, except we all had head lice in July. That sucked.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
New jeans! Not from a second-hand place, where I can usually find stuff I like, but from an actual store! With the saem pair of jeans in lots of sizes!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
All three of my sons, and also my friends named Jennifer. All three of them.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Goodness, can I just start at the top of Congress and work down? What a disaster. And the folks who continue to deny global warming make me want to spit.

14. Where didmost of your money go?
Fabric, as usual. Also a new porch roof, new car tires, airline tickets, and Sufi camps.

15. What did you get really, really,really excited about?
Going to Italy!

will always remind you of 2011?
Love Locked Down, as perfromed by Pentatonix. Also that song in Italian about shoulders that the guys sang in the street the last night.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
Wicked more stressed! Trying to finish writing a book the same season as dear friends get married is crazy.

18.What do you wish you'd done more of?
Sleeping! This year has been super busy. Also weeding, because I want that garden to work.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Stayed up too late to get anything done, spent stupid time on-line.

20.How will you be spending Christmas?
At home, hanging out and quilting/playing games.

22.Did you fall in love in 2011?
Totally. I love falling in love, and I do it regularly.

23. How many one-night stands?
None. I should really think of a different question to go here, since that's so not my style.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Community is great, and The Misfits is good, but The Sing-Off is a family favorite.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope. Hate's not very productive.

26. What was the best book you read?
Castle Waitng, by Linda Medley. There are other great books, but they have been pushed aside for thelast two months while I finish writing mine.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Pentetonix, also The Doubleclicks.

28. What did you want and get?
My passport.

29. What did you want and not get?
A wheelbarrow.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
I loved going to see Glee:In 3D with Emily, because it was so great to hang out with just her.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 40, and my friends and family had a lovely little Spring/Gardening party for me.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If I'd managed to actually finish my huge list of UFO quilt projects.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
Y'know, I look awesome and I have some awesome clothes. Time to stop moaning and get some decent jeans, pull out my cute cloths from behind the practical cloths, and go for it.

34. What kept you sane?
Watching my birdfeeders, talking with my kids, singing in the car with my husband.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Neil DeGrasse Tyson. Also Sean Stockman.

36.What political issue stirred you the most?
The Occupy Movement and the police brutality that came along with it.

37. Who did you miss?
My father-in-law.

38. Who was the best new person you met?
All my Italian friends.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011.
I've got things  to say about game design!!
