I officially turned 18 last week (June 10)! I've already registered to vote. On that note, I'm going to rant to no one in particular:
McCain has the best healthcare plan of both the Democratic and Republican parties, despite some flaws ( which are to be expected; no one is perfect, after all )
Barack Obama = an Obama-nation ( why yes, that was a pun )
He makes me so tired that I don't even wish to list all of the many reasons why he shouldn't become President.
-I'm sure we all know about his association with Reverend Wright, who preaches things such as "Black Liberation Theology" and screams "God Damn America" during his church services. I'd like to break down this sentence for a second: "Black Liberation Theology" refers to the superiority of African-Americans ( or "blacks," whichever you prefer ). This is completely contradictory to everything our country's founding fathers stood for ( and before you start saying "well, they had slaves," keep in mind that it was the South's fault that slavery took so long to be abolished ). Secondly, this close association between Obama and the Reverend is completely inappropriate because of the separation of church and state that should exist in our country.
-Obama is unwilling to pledge allegiance to his own country. What does this mean? There is no true guarantee on his part that he even has the good of the country in mind. Sure, he may not be proud of the current political atmosphere of the country, but that is no excuse to leave average Americans out in the cold. A country's peoples are not its government! The governments purpose is to protect its people: their "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness," or property as John Locke, the English philosopher, would declare.
-Obama has never once expressed an opinion in Congress. How can we know his true politics if he refuses to take action? How do we know that he'll even have the gusto to take action?
-On the other hand, Obama is willing to sit down with "world leaders" such as the leaders of Iran and North Korea. Oh how nice, he likes talking. Never you mind that these men are the very same who brainwash their children to hate Americans with all of the fiber of their being. Yeah, I'm sure they'd be VERY reasonable.
-Obama's rhetorical abilities are already legendary. Its lovely that he's been seen as a figurehead for African-Americans, their first real CHANCE in politics. I guess nobody realizes just how awesome Condoleezza Rice is for that same reason ( although she has so much political knowhow that it wouldn't matter who or what she were; she could be a pink-spotted elephant and she'd still be a successful politician ). What I take issue with is the way that Obama is being compared to Martin Luther King Jr., who was a martyr not just for African-Americans, but also for the entire Equal Rights Movement. There was substance in what Martin Luther King Jr. had to say, but Obama is milking the association with his "Change" campaign. Not only that, but his rhetoric is so powerful ( amazing what a few words can do ) that he has brought people together by the thousands. So did Adolph Hitler, but I guess we'll ignore the fact that most of the world's dictators could talk up a storm, too.
I'll leave my few key thoughts about Obama for people ( if anyone even sees this ) to think about.
-Oh, and kids, don't EVER vote for someone just because their YOUNG and you like the way they LOOK. Paris Hilton looks good, too, but she didn't VOTE or DIE in MTV's campaign a few years back. And youth only leads to a naive outlook on the world.
