God, so we had to read Book 4 of Virgil's Georgics in my Orpheus + Eurydice class, and horror upon horrors, it made me really miss Latin. Like, wtf self, I've only been in class for a week and I'm already missing that?? I need to remind myself that I don't like the 330 topic this semester, who gives a fuck about what Pliny wrote in his letters really. Not me. Anyways, I also think that today was the most I have ever voluntarily talked in one class period. Part of it's because it's Virgil and I actually know how to talk about him (and about Classics in general), part of it was because I know once we get to the 20th century I'm not going to have a clue, and a very large part of it was because it's a 100 level class full of timid first-years and no one else was saying anything. It was weird- I felt like, responsible and knowledgeable and shit. Not my usual.
(Also, there's a That Girl from last semester's mythology class, but I can't even bring myself to be annoyed at her because there's also this old man from town and he is so! much! worse! Nothing he said made any sense whatsoever, like to the point where the professor was left floundering and had to straight-up say "no you're wrong". actually she said "fundamentally misreading the character" but you know. same difference. It's only the second day of actual class what are you doing dude.)
In other news, I guess I'm graduating in three months??? My advisor signed my completion of requirements form today, and I have to go to the SGA office on Wednesday to pick up my cap and gown, and my parents are pestering me about going to the CDO, sorry the Lazarus Center, and getting a picture in the yearbook, and everything is... happening. whether I want it to or not. UGH it's not like I want to stay at Smith for any longer than necessary, but I don't want to have to do NEW things either. No fair :(((((
hah, I say that I miss Latin and now my etymology class textbook is teaching me about declensions and conjugation. I KNOW HOW TO CONJUGATE LATIN VERBS. tonight's class might be very dull indeed.
