A post that's not about Wrock, finally.
The scene: Around 2006- Life On Mars era. Some probably short-lived talk show (T-Mobile Transmission?) based in Manchester, for Channel 4 Music (I think, anyways). The set looks like a club, a pretty large audience, and in the center the interview space- a bunch of pink couches on a platform. They've already talked with John about the important career stuff, as well as being wasted/smashed for most of Human Traffic and 24 Hour Party People.
Interviewer Guy: Now, Lauren said to me that you used to be a cage dancer, and I said "fuck off!" But you weren't a cage dancer- tell me I was right.
John Simm: Well I was a student and I needed money, you know- it was, I was a barman actually, and it just happened to be part of the job.
Interviewer Girl: You said it was a bit Coyote Ugly, wasn't it?
JS: Oh it was horrible, horrible.
Girl: Were there any kind of outfits involved? I mean I don't want to push you too much John.
JS: ... Cycling shorts.
Girl: Ohhh!
Guy: Delicious.
JS: There's no pictures, thank God.
Guy: Everybody stick around, because later on, John Simm will be dancing in a cage. John Simm everyone!
[End Interview]
The little smile playing on his face right before "Cycling shorts". Why such a tease, Simm?
