As college students, we all have ambitions and goals for future careers. Additionally, there is at least some incident in everyones past that plagues our current, day-to-day life. Frankly, the future and the past effect our lives more than we sometimes realize. Personally, while in college I would only think about what homework needs done, what meetings I had to attend, what practices I needed to go to, etc., for the following day. Rarely did I have time to simply live. Regretfully, I lost close connections with my friends back at home/different schools, my twin sister, and even my parents all because I was too busy worrying about the future. We live for the next day.
For those people who unfortunately had a traumatic experience in their past, whatever it may be, may continually relive that moment. Their lives may revolve around that certain mistake, death, regrets, or whatever. We live in the past.
So my question to the world is why can't we live in the present??? Of course, I don't mean to disregard or downplay our life dreams or past experiences we have had, but I feel as though people could enjoy life a lot more if we took five seconds to relish the present moment. After all, life is about these moments, right? Wouldn't you agree that the best times of your life, and most likely the more memorable times, are when you paused and took a giant gulp of the present?
As for myself, the past year in college was a blur. Even though I spent hours upon ridiculous hours studying, I can barely recall most of the material that I was forced to put into my head. On the otherhand, I do remember some of the most random events simply because I detached the past and future from the present. Life is short and a bitch, so when life is nearing its end, you'll be more happy if you set aside respites and savor the occasional glory of life. (Yeah that was tacky, I know)
