It's all one big blur

This summer is going by so quickly.

The first week after classes we had math meetings to look at the "Grade Level Content Expectations" (GLCEs, pronounced "Glicks") for the 7th and 8th grade math programs. Now, these GLCEs actually make up what we used to call "Algebra 1" last year. What is now Algebra 1 is what we used to call Algebra 2. The disconnect is that the students are not prepared to cover these GLCEs. We can teach it, but the prognosis for success is low. These transition years will be a little rough.

The second week was a week of technology training. There are some fascinating possibilities out there; they all take a bit of time, though, and a bunch of creativity.

The next week was one of math strategy workshops. It was refreshing.

Then it was off to Philadelphia for the National Education Association from June 29 until July 6. There were some long (12 hour) days of meetings. We also got in a little bit of sight-seeing.

I got back home with a cold, and rested up, had my yearly check up at the doctors, and today a quick visit to the chiropractic doctor.

Wednesday a friend from Japan is coming to visit, and Friday Bob and I go to visit Amparo. How great is that!

When I get back, it'll be time for school again.

My World of Warcraft character is level 47 and a half right now.
