Drabbles and Drivel

Sep 04, 2007 22:24

Here are my replies to my Random Acts of Drabble entry! Do enjoy! Oh, and I am still accepting requests! Just give me a fandom and prompt and I will write you a drabble!

This Sherlock Holmes drabble (alas, I did not want to cut down the words) is for eponymous_rose.

Fandom: Sherlock Holmes
Prompt: On a Boat
Title: Currents

"Holmes!" A member of humanity limped up to Sherlock Holmes with unexpected energy. "The captain says we should arrive in London in about fifteen minutes."

The man allowed a quick, distant smile to pass across his face before acknowledging the doctor. "Ah, are we so close to that dull city?"

Watson smiled encouragingly.

"Cheer up, my good man. If you don't, I'll have to work extra hours toward another trip to the continent."

“That won't be necessary, my dear Watson; there is always the cocaine.”

The doctor left him there.

The skeleton shifted his gaze from Watson's back to the sea; the waves seemed so reckless... unpredictable. Yet, he thought, dismissively throwing a cigarette off the edge of the railing, the currents never do change.

This one is for my dear scarletsherlock!

Fandom: The Phantom of the Opera
Prompt: Cookie
Title: Delivery

The organ was lifeless. Erik pinned it with his gaze and dared it to breathe the life he felt beneath its surface. It failed to inhale, though, and the mask was thrown to the ground in an attempt to conjure fear.

Beneath the sounds of his mind and the pillowed silence came an aromatic presence. He turned to find the foreign item quietly sitting at the lake's shore. Unimposing, yet enigmatic... someone had penetrated his sanctum.

Damn you, Nadir, Erik thought as he wiped the cookie crumbs from his cloak. Must you continue to torture me with your cursed domesticity?

Here is your quote of the week:

I do not accept any absolute formulas for living. No preconceived code can see ahead to everything that can happen in a man's life. As we live, we grow and our beliefs change. They must change. So I think we should live with this constant discovery. We should be open to this adventure in heightened awareness of living. We should stake our whole existence on our willingness to explore and experience.

- Martin Buber

Finally, I just died and went to heaven. My mom and I are searching for tickets!

Updates on school, boys, Cedar Point, and my wonderful Holmesian party to come once my sinus headache dissipates!

Toodles!
