Pandora - my new addiction
I blame darksonic for this. My newest addiction is http://www.pandora.com/ . This is a free, online, streaming, self made music station. Step one is input a particular song that you like. Then the site starts playing songs that have been analyzed and determined musically similar to the one you liked, assuming that you will like those as well. From here you can input more songs for your station and give a thumbs up/down to songs the site plays - helping to further hone the kind of music this station will play. If you find a song that is good, but not what you were going for with that particular station you can spawn a whole new station based on that song and go in a different direction. And you can have up to 100 stations at a time.
Right now I have a rock/electronica station, an Emo station, and a Ben Folds Five inspired-y station. I can email these to whoever I want, just ask!
Things of note. You cannot select a specific song and have the site play it. You cannot skip over too many sings in a row in an hour (all due to music licensing issues). However, I have found ways around these issues for the most part. Poke me if you can’t figure it out.
