myspace @ work

Some people worry about their employer finding their myspace page and some people find out the hard way about posting inappropriate things to the public domain. Well, guess what? My employers at the Episcopal Bookstore are curious about creating a myspace page for the bookstore. It might bring in business or at least get the word out to internet-savvy young Episcopalians (and those of us who aren't spammers or otherwise posting senseless crap). And they want me to create the account. Heh. I'll get paid to maintain a myspace profile, albeit not as intensely as many other myspace users. My main priority is still to deal with real customers in the store and processing real orders. The idea came about via an article in a bookseller's e-mail about other bookstores who have created myspace pages. Time will tell if this is going to be worth our time. It has potential to be fun and at least provide some business, and also the potential to flop. It will be an interesting endeavor for sure.
